Pumpkin Contest

 We are always so impressed with the hard work all the classrooms do for our annual pumpkin decorating contest. You can easily see the creativity everyone put into their pumpkin.

We place the pumpkins on display so all families had the chance to vote for their favorite. The classroom with the most votes won $100 worth of new supplies for their room from Discount School Supply. Check out all our awesome pumpkins this year. 

Witches Brew

 Our Pre-K class had so much fun incorporating math with their spooooooky witches brew! Everyone had their own recipe that they had to follow. Some of the fun ingredients included bones, pumpkins, vampire teeth and even eyeballs. Once they followed the recipe and added their ingredients into the witch's caldron they had to give it a big stir. Check out all the fun they had.

National Fire Safety Month

 Visit from Ace the Fireman

 

This week at school we practiced all our safety drills as October is national fire safety month. We practiced our intruder, fire, and tornado drills this week. The highlight of our week was getting a visit from Ace the Fireman. He came to our school to teach us all about how to stay safe and what to do in case of a fire emergency. We also watched a video about what the inside of a fire station looks like. It was so much fun to see what happens when we need to call for help.

From School to Home

 Fall Is For Family

During the season of Fall, we celebrate the families of our kids as well as our staff family. Here at Powell Place, we want our school to feel like a place where everyone loves to come, and we want to encourage togetherness. One way we are showing it all month is by having family treats every week. Last week we had Grab ‘n Go Salads, and this week we have Grab ‘n Go bubbles.

This week we have had multiple family activities. We want to take school, home. We started the week off with a Take-Home Scavenger Hunt.          

On Tuesday, we had a Family Popsicle Stick Challenge. We supplied colorful popsicle sticks for our families and encouraged them to take them home and be creative with them. Whatever they made, we wanted them to share with us through email or tag our Instagram page. We got some cool creations back.                            

On Wednesday, we sent home a Family tree worksheet. Some friends drew their families faces in the boxes on the tree and others used their family’s names to fill in the tree.

On Thursday, we hosted an Instagram Challenge for our parents. The challenge was to post their favorite family blooper to Instagram and tag us to be entered into a raffle to win a Fall family Game Night Basket. Our families posted some funny pictures.

To close the week, we had a Grab ‘n Go for our families. At the end of the day on Friday, our families took home some bubbles to have a bubble party over the weekend. This week has been great!

Frog Street Curriculum

 Visit from Our Frog Friends

This month we have started back implementing our Frog Street Curriculum. In efforts to make it fun and get everyone in the school engaged, we schedule a visit from our Frog Friend, Ace. We have also refreshed our teachers on the curriculum expectations so we can have a successful year.

On Wednesday, Ace visited all our classrooms and our friends were more than happy to see him. Even our little babies were excited and thrilled to see such a large frog. This was such a great way to kick off our School Year Curriculum.

Back to School Week

It's back to school week and we are ready to start this fiscal year off right. Our little friends are so excited to see some of their old friends back and many new friends. We are sad to see Summer go, but our Fall learning and activities are just as fun!
