Babies, Babies and More Babies!

New Babies on the Block!
Here at the Academy, we pride ourselves on making sure our new babies and families are as comfortable as possible during this transition into school. Many parents have a sense of not wanting to leave their little ones, but with the comfort, we offer of photos sent daily, and a well-kept system of communication, the transition is smooth.

Photos of their little ones throughout the day create a sense of relief for many of our parents. Most of the babies have only been home with mom or dad since birth, so it gets tough to leave them their first week. One of our biggest jobs is to be the peace that the parent needs when leaving their little ones in our care.

We promise to take good care of them and share these smile all day long!

Dental Health Week

National Dental Health Week!
This week at Powell Place, we celebrated Dental Hygiene. Our staff and kids were very creative this week showing our little friends how we should brush twice a day and floss after eating.

With the help from our parents, we used egg cartons as teeth and had our friends to practice brushing the plaque and caries from their teeth. Our friends really enjoyed it.

After using the toothbrushes to practice, our little friends were able to color teeth and then use their brushes to erase the coloring. This demonstration was incredible. Our little were fascinated with the idea that their coloring (eating food) could be brushed away with toothpaste and a toothbrush! What an amazing week!

Snow Day

Finally, There’s Snow!

Last Friday was an incredible day! Our friends were so excited that Tennessee finally got a real dose of snow!

The snow covered the grass and all the trees, and it made such a wonderful sight!

Our Pre-K 2 teachers collected some snow and allowed our pre-k friends to have a snow sensory activity! They all had a blast! Finally, There was Snow.

Snowball Fight

No Snow, No Problem!

The weather outside has been very interesting. One day we have rain and the next it’s sunny, all while in the season of winter. But inside Powell Place, we want our friends to enjoy the winter in any way possible.

This week, we had a snowball fight. All our teachers prepared over time, random pieces of paper to ball up and use as snowballs.

Our Preschool 2 class had an absolute blast. The heat was on and they were so excited. This is an activity that can and should be done with our families. I’m sure the fun will never end!
