Week of Literacy!!

This week is by far one of my favorites! Watching our friends share a love of reading is one of the most rewarding experiences as an educator. We have already played host to some awesome literacy activities and opened our doors to invite our parents to join in on the fun as well. Tuesday we held our first ever "Book Swap". The children and families were encouraged to bring in gently used books that they no longer read in exchange for another gently used book that would be "new" to them. The children loved getting the opportunity to "shop" at our Academy Book Store. On Wednesday we had Family Story Hour and invited any and all families to come join their child in the classroom to guest star while reading a family favorite to their child's class. Thursday we will be embarking on a special bookworm craft project, and the Grand Finale..............The Cat in the Hat is visiting the Academy for a special presentation!!!! WE CANNOT WAIT!!! First Annual Academy of Powell Place Book Swap!

BIKE DAY!!!

Today was a great day at The Academy of Powell Place. The older children in the school got to bring their bikes and helmets today which they loved. The children had so much fun showing off their bikes and helmets to all their friends. They also had a great time just having fun riding around the parking lot. Here are just a few pictures of what today was about. We couldn't forget our younger children so they had a mini bike day while they were outside playing on the playground.

The Power of Art
