Featured Teacher- April

Madison Holland

Every month we’ve announced a Featured Teacher. This honor and award do not come lightly or easily. Every featured teacher is nominated by his/her peers and awarded a cash prize, a gift, a special parking spot, and bragging rights!

This month's featured teacher is Ms. Madison. Madison has been with AOPP for 5-6 years. She has been in the PreK class the entire time. She is very dedicated, determined, and motivated to teach, encourage and create better humans out of all her students.

She has devoted so much time to make sure they are ready for kindergarten and beyond. She pushed her kids to be their BEST by preparing them with Kindergarten Boot Camp.

This award was literally meant for Ms. Madison and we are more than grateful to have her a part of the AOPP Family!

Learning Through Experience

 Petting Zoo!!

Curriculum and learning is particularly important here at Powell Place. Every month, we add our FrogStreet curriculum theme to the calendar and we add activities to include the curriculum in our calendar activities.

This month’s theme for PreK is Animals. They learn, discuss, and participate in activities surrounding animals. To incorporate their curriculum into the calendar, we invited the Petting Zoo to visit! This was an incredibly good choice.

Every class, including our transition class was able to participate in petting, feeding, and some “just-looking” at the farm animals! Their energy was so high, and they were all more than excited.

Easter Edition

Happy Good Friday & Happy Easter 🐰

This week at school, we celebrated Easter to the fullest! All our little friends were so excited about the fun Easter 🐣 Activities, the Easter Egg 🥚Hunt, & to meet the Easter Bunny 🐰himself!

Having the Easter Egg 🥚 Hunt on the playground was the best! All the classes were able to hunt for Easter Eggs 🥚 during their play ground time!

We also had treats for our little friends (kids) and big friends (teachers) to take home 🏠 !

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter 🐰 !

Infant Music Class

Infant Music Class

This week’s calendar activities were all inclusive! We’ve realized a lot of times our infants 👶 are unable to participate in a lot of our events and activities so we made a day just for them.

Maree Music caters to infants all the way to school-age children. But at this time we only wanted to give our infants a chance to be entertained as well as involved.

Here’s a little about the company:
At Maree Music, we want to help your children build a musical foundation, by exploring music through sensory play. Children will practice using their large and fine motor skills, which helps with their overall development, including speech processing and even at this early age, school readiness. Early exposure to music can help with rhythm and pitch. Music can also help children identify, connect with and express their emotions through music.”

Our babies seemed to love it!

Let’s Start Spring Right

Planting Flowers 🌸

Daylight Saving is this Sunday and Spring will be coming on next Saturday! To bring in both, we decided to send home 🏡 a “Plant a Flower” kit for all our little friends and their families. We’ve also challenged our parents to keep us updated on their Instagram of their progress! We want to bring in good weather and spring together!

Read Across America Week

Dr. Seuss Week

This week is Read 📖  Across America Week as well as the celebration of the great Dr. Seuss! Here at Powell Place, we pride ourselves to making sure reading is just as important as play! Everyday this week, our friends participated in reading with their teachers as well as a activity with the entire school.

Monday, we started a book donation with the parents and staff. Our school has partnered with Book ‘Em to meet the needs of those whom may not have books. Spreading knowledge and bringing awareness is our goal.

Tuesday, we had a virtual librarian visit and we listened to some Dr. Seuss books read by our teachers.

Wednesday, we had a visit from the Cat in The Hat himself (herself)! All our friends were super happy about this visit.

Thursday, we had a special goldfish snack while listening to Dr. Seuss’ One Fish, Two Fish Red Fish, Blue Fish.

To end the week, we hosted our classic pajama and movie 🎥  day! We watched Dr. Seuss The Lorax!

This was one awesome week!
