Featured Teacher- January

 Mi Jones

Every month we have announced a Featured Teacher/Teacher of the Month. This honor and award do not come lightly or easily. Every Featured Teacher is nominated by his/her peers and parents of our school, and awarded a cash prize, a gift, a special parking spot, and bragging rights!

Our New Teacher of the Month for the month of January is our All-Star of a teacher, the Sunshine award-winning Infant 3/Transition Teacher, Ms. Mi. Ms. Mi has not been with us long but has made an impact on not only jer kids, families, but also on our staff's family! When she started with us, it seemed like she'd bring the sunshine into our school daily, and she still does to this day! Her kids share such a special bond with her like no other and she loves "her babies" like they are her own. The parents can tell and so can we, how much she loves what she does! She definitely deserves this month of appreciation.

Snow Place Like AOPP

 Snow Much Fun

We were so excited about last week’s impromptu snow days that we had to continue our “SNOW much fun” experience. Since we were out, we encouraged our families to send us pictures of their little ones having fun in the snow, and they did. We usually don’t get to see that much snow in Tennessee, so this was a BIG deal.

On Monday, as we came back from a long snow break, our classes read the book, “A Snowy Day”. The kids were so interested in the book since they’d just experience something just like the little friend in the book did.

Today’s Calendar Activity is Snowman Decorating, and the school is coloring and/or painting their version of a snowman. I can’t wait to see these art projects hung out for all to see.

Ready for Snow

 Snowflake Decorating

Today’s Calendar Activity is Snowflake Decorating. All our little ones were super excited to do this art project. They absolutely love coloring and making their creations come to life.

It is starting to actually feel like winter now, so this project was even more fun. We’re expecting some snow tomorrow so decorating snowflakes is the perfect craft.

Hot Chocolate Bar

 Hot Coco Season

Although the weather has not been as cold as we expected it to be around the holidays, that doesn’t mean we can’t have all the things we’d have if it was.

Annually we have a Hot Chocolate Bar or Grab ‘n Go available for our parents and little friends right as we enter into the new year. These annual traditions give us hope for a great year as well as bring in some good cozy, sweater weather.

Grab ‘n Gos are fan favorites at AOPP. Can’t wait to see our families enjoy a cup of Hot Coco and tag us on our Instagram.

Christmas is Coming!

Christmas Fun

Last week we had a blast with all our Christmas Activities. We saved the best day for last, though, our Christmas Parties and 2nd Annual Book Exchange.

During our parties, we had a special guest come and visit our friend, Mr. Grinch! Some friends were super excited to see him while others watched from a distance. It was a blast.

Every year we ask the parents to bring in wrapped books from their little ones so that another friend could have a new book at home. Once they finished their parties, they all came out and chose books from under the tree. When everyone chose one, the class opened them up together. They were more than excited to unwrap a gift before Christmas and happy to have a new book to add to their collections at home. This is one of our favorite traditions.

Be safe this holiday and enjoy!

National Gingerbread House Day

 Building Homes

This past Sunday was National Gingerbread House Day. Here at AOPP, we celebrated Friday by having our classes build Gingerbread Houses.

Our older friends seem to have the most fun with this construction fun. They took turns adding pieces to the houses and were so proud of their ending result. And they were super excited about taking it apart to have a sweet treat. This tradition can never be changed.

Santa Claus

Santa Claus is Coming to AOPP

Today we had our annual visit from Santa Claus. Some of our older friends were super excited to see Santa, as well as to tell him what they’d like for Christmas. When it comes to some of our younger friends, they were not so pleased with Santa coming to visit.

The pictures were phenomenal and had lots of character. These are the traditions that never seem to get old.
