Outta This World Week

Buzz Lightyear Visit

Today is the beginning of Outta The World week and we started it off with a bang at AOPP. Our favorite Friend, Superman-like, Astronaut-like character, Buzz Lightyear came to visit.

All our friends were excited and thrilled when he walked in. He had the song, You Got A Friend in Me, playing when he entered the classrooms and the party begun! We all love him!

It is about time to nominate again for the Best of Parenting 2021. Our company, The Academy, has won this award 13 years in a row and now we are going for 14. I have attached a graphic to this email, and you’ll probably start noticing them more and more around our school. Please help us win Best of Parenting 14 years in a row. Just go to https://nashvilleparent.com/bop-21 and nominate for “The Academy”!

LegoLand Week

Lego Land Week

This week was BLOCK-ed out just for FUN! This week was Legoland week. We started the week on Tuesday, which felt so weird, with some Lego Stamping. All the eligible classes were able to participate and even in our Enrichment Class, the theme was Legos.

On Wednesday, our older classes were able to make their own Legos using Rice Krispy Treats and M & Ms. That all loved their edible Legos.

Our PreK 2 class went further and beyond this week for their lesson and did Lego sight words and rhyming words and Lego emotions!

The week seemed to be a blast all around!

BOP 2021

Best of Parenting Nomination Time

The time has come again where we ask that our families, friends, and staff help to vote the Academy of Powell Place for Best of Parenting 2021.

Every year Parent Magazine hosts nominations and voting for the Middle Tennessee area to reward the school with the Best of Parenting.

Nominations are accepted from July 1st through July 28, 2021. On August 1st, we will put the top 10 nominations in each category up for voting. If there were fewer than 10 nominations in a category, we will put up the top five. Voting will continue through August 31, 2021. We will publish the winners here on our website on November 1 and in the November issues of NashvilleWilliamsonRutherford,
 and Sumner Parent magazines.

Green Thumbs Week

 Green Thumbs Week

This week has been Going-Green Good! This week was Green Thumbs week and all our friends have enjoyed the learning and crafts of this week. Monday, we had a special Dirt Cup snack, which was so yummy. Tuesday, we tried something new. Each class got a few corn stocks and was able to shuck corn as a class. This was remarkably interesting to watch, but the kids loved it. Thursday, we had the shucked corn and other vegetables that we washed for our produce wash. Today was our last Friday of Water Day and it was filled with FUN!

Wild Things Week

 WILD THINGS

This week has been wild with fun! This was Wild Things week and our friends have truly expressed their inner wildness. We started the week with a fun snack of animal crackers and counters. The classes had a blast and my older friends loved telling me each animal they ate. Tuesday was Nature Photography Day and our older friends were able to enjoy some time in the back of the school. Wednesday we focused on sea animals and all classes participated in a Sea Creature Sensory Bin or Bottle. Those were fun to make so I’m sure they had fun playing with them. Thursday’s Adopt an Animal was a success. We bought pets that had already had suggested names, made adoption certificates and our friend got to adopt a new member of their families. Friday was Water Day and all our friends had the absolute best time. These hot days have definitely made water day a requirement for summer.

Featured Teacher- June

 Harley Rodgers

Every month we have announced a Featured Teacher. This honor and award do not come lightly or easily. Every Featured Teacher is nominated by his/her peers and awarded a cash prize, a gift, a special parking spot, and bragging rights! This month we have switched back to teachers in the classrooms and their peers and family were able to nominate who they felt deserved Featured Teacher for the month of June.

This month’s Featured Teacher is Ms. Harley! Ms. Harley is our Preschool One Lead Teacher. She has been with us for a year and has been rocking it out every day. She has been nominated several months in a row, but this month was an overwhelming number of votes, and it was finally her time to shine!

She loves her class, her kids, and all the activities she has the opportunity to do with them. She is always positive and always looks for ways to do a better job each day! We love Ms. Harley. She deserves it!
